Welcome to the Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI)!

The purpose of the Emerging Leaders Institute is to identify, train and mentor TRIO New Mexico members for leadership roles within the Association. The roles include committee service as members and/or committee chairs as well as preparation to hold office at the state, regional and national levels. TRIO NM ELI also strives to provide its membership with leadership development on a professional and personal level. There is a short application process and documents needed.

Registration fee of $150 will be invoiced at the time of acceptance.

Program Information

All ELI trainings and meetings will take place online, with the exception of the April 2027 training session, which will be held during the 2027 TRIO NM Annual Conference in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Please note:

  • Participants are required to attend the 2027 TRIO NM Annual Conference.
  • TRIO NM will not cover conference registration, travel, or lodging expenses for the conference.
  • A $150 participation fee will be due upon acceptance to cover books, materials, supplies, meals, and other program-related expenses. This fee may be paid using grant funds as a professional development expense.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a regular member in good standing of TRIO NM
  • Have at least one (1) year of TRIO experience

Selection Process

A cohort of five (5) qualified individuals will be selected for participation in the 2026–2027 Emerging Leaders Institute.

Application materials should demonstrate:

  1. Interest and willingness to assume leadership roles within TRIO at the state and/or regional level
  2. Active involvement in state and/or regional TRIO associations
  3. A need for the training opportunities offered through ELI
  4. Creativity, energy, and vision that support the advancement of the Association’s mission

Required Application Materials

Please submit the following by September 3rd, 2026:

  • Completed application form
  • Current professional resume
  • Letter of support and endorsement from your immediate supervisor
    (This letter should demonstrate institutional and program support for your participation.)
  • Commitment to the full one-year ELI process, including attendance at all training sessions

Tentative Training Schedule

  1. First Session – September 
  2. Second Session – November 
  3. Third Session – February 
  4. Fourth Session – April 2027 at the TRIO NM Annual Conference

Please note: Dates are subject to change and will be finalized during the first meeting to best accommodate trainers and participants.

Accepted applicants will receive a formal acceptance letter and invoice for the $150 participation fee in September 2026.
